Re: HeroScribe Icon Packs

Okay - so I tried the all-in-one pack, and my computer wouldn't download it - it just got interrupted.
I downloaded a few individual files, and that worked - I have no problem doing it that way, though.

My problem is this - the xml link on how to install the files won't work for me. How do you put the
new icons into heroscribe?

Also - where do you download the program? I was going to just download the program anew, thinking
it might have all the new icons included...but couldn't find a download for the file itself.

Thanks for any help on this.

The way i did it, I already had heroscribe by the way.
Download the all-in-one folder. Drag and drop the all-in-one folder onto your heroscribe folder. When prompted simply select 'move and replace'. Do this for every prompt.

My desktop icon didnt open up Heroscribe anymore, so just open it up from the heroscribe folder.

Hope this helped

I was thinking of trying it that way - just plop the new icons into the heroscribe
folder and hope they worked. I'll check it out.
Thanks.

Hey guys, I've been asked to write a guide on how to manually convert an .eps icon to use it in HeroScribe, and after all the time it took me I thought it might deserve to be announced here: here's an in-depth guide to convert your personal icons in HeroScribe.
Please note it takes some big time to follow, so read it only if you really want to.
Cheers

I probably won't tackle icons for a bit, but great to know there are instructions if I do choose to go in that direction. Right now, I'm trying to make use of the icons already out there. Cutting down the all in one pack by editing out a ton of content in the xml has helped me a lot. (I also reorganized all the monsters by type...orcs, goblins, undead, vermin, darkelves, etc.) I think my next task will be to cut down the room tiles to tiles I actually can identify. (Most of the tiles I have no idea where to download the actual tile.)

I'm glad I'd help! And here's a surprise for you, guys.
I wrote a guide on how to manually create yuor own HeroScribe board, and after all the time it took me I thought it might deserve to be announced here: here's the in-depth guide.
Please note it takes some big time to follow, so read it only if you really want to.

This stuff is pretty amazing. You've brought quest making a long way since the days a decade ago where I cut and pasted cells into excel, or 2 decades (almost) ago when I created quests with a ruler, a pencil, and graph paper.

Quoted for posterity.

I used to grab extra graph books from math class to use as quest books.

Thanks Derfel Link, for those who have already made some boards, this can also be a reference for forgotten details. ;)

Edit: Just started reading through it. I've already learned new tricks I didn't know before. :D

Question: I see the American trap colours are defined in the Board .eps file. Is it possible to add in similar code for use with the colour of magical traps? Or does that also require additional changes to the HeroScribe.jar?
