Here are some more pics. Now all I have to complete is the straps that will hold the gameboard and other items in the lid, and to add the weapons and equipment information to the inside of the lid. I also want to add a chain to the side that will stop the lid from folding all the way back.

Here you can see the new details I added to the top of the box:

Here you can see the tray with the minis and furniture inside the box:

And here the tray is removed:

I added the straps to hold in the gameboard and the chain to stop the lid. Just one last thing to do and it will be complete.

That's the way my board has always been folded. It was that way when I opened it up way back in 1990.

Well, it does fold back quite a bit, but it's supposed to be folded inward, with the back side out. I only noticed because of Goblin's reaction, but he is correct.
Box looks amazing. I need to get me some wood.

I've never thought about folding it the other way, because mine came like that out of the original box. It makes sense to fold it inwards though, to protect the surface.

What sort of wood are you using? Thickness?
If I know what wood to use, I think I can figure out the dimensions I need.

and I'm so jealous of your mini's :P

I went with what was available at the time. The box is birch, the tray is oak. The boards I used for the box were 1"x4"s (for the box) and 1"x2"s (for the lid). The tray is made from (I think) 1/2" x 3" boards.

I had almost all my minis from my original set. I only had to replace my elf fig. Fortunately a friend had the remains of his set and gave it to me. So I've got a ton of figs.

One last photo of the last addition. After this, I believe it's complete. I added the Armory and Alchemist's shops to the inside of the lid.
